Your data stays inside Columbia's Microsoft tenant. Copilot only accesses content you already have permission to view — it cannot reach files or data outside your access rights.
Your prompts and University data are not used to train Microsoft's AI models. What you type and what Copilot retrieves stays private to your session and your account.
Permissions and security policies carry over. Copilot respects the same access controls, sensitivity labels, and sharing settings already enforced across Columbia's Microsoft 365 environment.
Because of these protections, Copilot is approved for use with sensitive University data in accordance with Columbia's data classification policies.
