Standard Supported Hardware and Software

CUIT supports and recommends Dell and Apple hardware.

In order to procure a CUIT standard computer, each department needs to designate an authorized buyer and have access to a CUIT Dell Premier account. CUIT can assist with setting up this account. Once your equipment has been procured, the CUIT Desktop Support Team will assist you with configuring it to meet CUIT's standards.

For assistance having a Dell Premier account created, please submit a ticket to the CUIT Service Desk with the following information:

  • Name of departmental purchaser
  • Email address
  • Department name
  • Billing address

Once your premier ID is set up, you may place your orders by visiting the CUIT Dell Premier portal and selecting Standard Configurations.

*Apple has replaced their Intel-based MacBook Airs with their proprietary M1 chip-based models. CUIT has verified that the M1 MacBook Air is compatible with all of our current standard Mac applications. If you use software outside of this list, please contact your software vendor to confirm compatibility. If the vendor confirms that your application is M1- or Rosetta 2-compatible, you should be able to use it on CUIT-managed M1 MacBooks. More information on M1-compatible software is available at

For assistance having an Apple Ecommerce account created, please submit a ticket to the CUIT Service Desk with the following information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Department name
  • Billing address

CUIT will work with Apple to set up your Education Account access, and then will help guide you through the ordering process.
