CHAT is Columbia University's advanced AI chat platform, designed to give the Columbia community greater flexibility in how they use generative AI. It allows users to customize AI agents, personalize their interactions and tailor the platform to fit a variety of academic and professional needs. This service is designed to offer effective AI solutions and can perform various language tasks, such as writing emails, summarizing information, translating languages, and engaging in conversation.

Data Privacy
CHAT is approved for CUIMC users to use Sensitive PHI data, provided it is used with approved AI models. By default, CUIMC users are restricted to approved AI models. Users should not input PHI data unless all models in CHAT are approved for use with PHI data.
CHAT is approved for PII and RHI data as defined by the University Data Classification Policy for all users.

CHAT is a paid service based on usage. Users will have a daily usage limit in dollar amounts. Usage costs will be tracked, and users can view their usage and expenditure over time.
